A reported bug in the latest version of Windows is "not as dramatic" as first thought, according to an expert.
Simon May, author of The Rough Guide to Windows 7, said that the chances of seeing the 'Black Screen of Death' when using Windows 7 are "quite low", users of SharePoint may be reassured to hear.
He commented that the issue does not lead to any data loss and is in fact just a blank screen.
Mr May stated that the problem only appears in some cases when people have recently successfully removed malware.
He added: "The black screen doesn't appear to be as widespread as original reports suggested. If you are faced with it then contact Microsoft's official support line; doing so will help them to gather information on the cause and they can help you get through it quickly."
The issue was reported on earlier this week in a blog post by IT security firm Prevx.
