Virtualisation set for big 2010 (05/01/2010)

Virtualisation set for big 2010

Hosted server virtualisation could be a key trend for company IT plans in 2010, it has been claimed.

Neil Barton, director of Hostway, commented that many firms will be able to enjoy the benefits of this kind of technology in the coming year.

He said: "Many companies have not been able to take advantage of virtualisation technology throughout 2009 due a lack of skills and resources, and because of concerns about its increasing management complexity."

However, Mr Barton commented that this situation is set to change in 2010, with an increasing number of firms opting for managed hosted exchange servers.

He stated: "This will allow systems to become both leaner and more resilient, without breaking the bank or requiring a significant investment in time or training from the in-house team."

Earlier this week, Tink Taylor, managing director of dotMailer, suggested that the integration of email and social media will be important for businesses in 2010, which could involve the use of iPhone and BlackBerry handsets.ADNFCR-1370-ID-19540915-ADNFCR
