SaaS now 'essential for survival'

Despite having only emerged a few years ago, software as a service (SaaS) solutions are now an 'essential' part of many forward-thinking businesses, it has been claimed.

Speaking at a special conference on security issues concerning cloud computing, industry expert Wael Mohamed has noted that, for the most part, those bosses still shunning the advantages of hosted IT services do so due to concerns over the safty of their data.

Mr Mohamed, who works as vice president of server security at Trend Micro, told delegates at the Sydney conference that such worries should not stand in the way of businesses taking advantages of the benefits of SaaS solutions.

"There's no way for you to survive without one app or multiple apps in the cloud," he said, according to CRN.com.

He added that, in many instances, users' lack of knowledge means that they can be convinced that their systems are being tampered with, such as when virtual machines move between hardware devices.

These comments come as IT experts get set to gather for the first SaaS summit to be hosted in the Middle Eastern region.ADNFCR-1370-ID-19463905-ADNFCR
