IT spend set to increase

Global IT spend is set to rise in 2010, a new study has suggested.

According to Forrester Research, there will be an 8.1 per cent growth in the market, which could result in more money being put into areas such as exchange hosting.

This would see spending in the sector reach $1.6 trillion (£1 trillion) in 2010.

The figures compare to a decline of 8.9 per cent last year.

Andrew Bartels, vice-president and principal analyst for Forrester Research, said that the study indicates a bright future for the sector.

He explained: "The technology downturn of 2008 and 2009 is unofficially over. All the pieces are in place for a 2010 tech spending rebound."

In other IT news, earlier this week a study by Panda Security suggested that malware will be a key trend in the industry this year.

The research revealed that 25 million new strains of malware were created during the last 12 months.ADNFCR-1370-ID-19555097-ADNFCR
