Integration, security and vendor management are among the issues firms migrating to the cloud need to consider, an expert has stated.
Rick Freedman, writing in a TechRepublic blog, outlined the key concerns businesses implementing cloud computing should think about.
He noted security as a crucial issue, saying that businesses will not migrate to the cloud if it is not secure.
Meanwhile, the technical integration side of putting new IT systems in place is also something which firms must think about, which could lead them to opt for exchange hosting.
Mr Freedman commented: "Most firms that migrate to the cloud do so in a hybrid model, keeping certain key elements of their infrastructure in-house and under their direct control, while outsourcing less sensitive or core components."
He also noted bottom line and vendor management as issues for businesses to consider, stating that it is important for those taking the outsourcing route to ensure that the people handling any technical problems do not pass them back to the company.
Mr Freedman is an IT expert who has produced several books on the sector.
